One of my favorite pastimes is perusing local home furnishings stores, and Jayson Home is at the very top of my list. Walking into Jayson Home is different each and every time, but it always feels like stepping into your chicest friend’s home – you can’t quite put your finger on why it looks so incredible! I recently chatted with Devin Kirk, Jayson Home’s chief creative officer about the store and what he’s seeing in design right now.
Devin has been at Jayson Home since 2003, which is actually pretty standard he says – many people on the team have worked at Jayson Home their entire career. He handles all of the creative direction, sourcing and marketing, as well as buying trips and overseas product development.
About Jayson Home
Jayson Home is a furnishings emporium, selling half furniture and half accessories. According to Devin, Jayson Home offers a special mix of items you won’t find anywhere else including vintage and antique furniture, as well as products that Jayson Home creates to look vintage and antique. One of Devins’ favorite aspects of the way the store is designed, is people can come in just to be inspired by the aesthetic – a little bit like a museum.
Favorite sources for products
Devin regularly travels to France for antiques and vintage items both big and small. Over the recent years though, they have found more and more incredible antiques from Italy, which are a very cool and different look you can’t find anywhere else. Devin loves sourcing rugs, textiles and pottery from Morocco.
Current exciting design trends
Bolder looks: Devin is excited to see more color in the design world because things were getting pretty neutral for a while.
Geometric design: Furniture in interesting shapes is big right now. Jayson Home is currently selling a kidney-shaped dining table and oval nightstands that are doing well. Overall, pieces that stand out and are fresh takes on classic furniture.
Inspiration throughout the city
To help spark inspiration, Devin enjoys a creative dining experience. Two favorite destinations include RL (he loves the classic interior vibe) and Lula Cafe for the food and hospitality.
If you are one of the many who walks into Jayson Home and wishes your whole home looked like the store, the good news is Jayson Home offers an in-house interior designer that can help! His final tip: don’t forget to splurge! Investing in a few key pieces helps an overall look feel pulled together.
